Walk for the 'Best" 2008
It was a beautiful day for the 200 participants in the 11th Annual Walkathon held by the Charles H. Best Diabetes Centre for Children & Youth at Cullen Park. The “Best†Walkathon was a family fun day including games, a BBQ, jumping castle, and a rock climbing wall. Special guests inspired the crowd with their stories of success including Sebastien Sasseville, the 1st Canadian with Type 1 Diabetes to Climb Everest and Sean Busby, a professional snowboarder living with Type 1 Diabetes. Another spirit booster was the donation of $12,000 by CRCF Contracting! All funds raised will go towards the ‘Best Centre’, the first of its kind in Canada. Serving over 1200 families in the Durham Region, the centre provides young people with Type 1 Diabetes and their families with ongoing education, management and support in managing the challenging health condition.
